Owing to Comarro is a parish of the municipality of Poyo, it is 7 km far away from Pontevedra, and this city makes up a close and attractive tourist place. As it is informed in Tourism, “In Pontevedra everything is very close”. And there are many things to see, truly treasures, such as the collection of goldsmithing in gold of the Museum of Pontevedra, unique in Europe, with splendid jewels of more than 4.000 years old. And more jewels, the Basilica of St Mary, the remains of St Domingo and Church of St Bartolomé. But there are more things.
Parks, poplar groves, walks by the river in the city and an historic centre that after St Domingo, is the most important of Galicia. Stone architecture with blazon houses, fountains, squares full of life and terraces full of people until the early morning.
On the West of Combarro is Sanxenxo-Sangenjo with its famous beaches. And a little bit far away there are the beacher around the Romanesque hermitage La Lanzada. And few kilometers further to the Northeast, it is the municipality Grove with its fishing harbor and spa and island La Toja.
Picturesque village from Rías Baixas, very sailor, close to Pontevedra and Sanxexo, in front of the Island of Tambo. It is declared as Historic Ensemble. Famous by its thirty raised granaries among it is the second biggest one of Galicia. The popular Galician architecture of the XVIII-XIX centuries is preserved in its locality built over the granite and in a edge of the Sea Inlet of Pontevedra. And besides the raised granaries, its seven “cruceiros” and the sailor houses at A Rua St also stand out. The parish of St Roque is from the XVIII century. If the tide is low, we can cross the beach up to arrive Peirao or the old fishers’ harbor.
